When Prince Heinrich of Campofranco moved from Sicily to Caldaro in 1851, he brought cuttings of the Rosenmuskateller grape variety with him. Today, this full-bodied, aromatic, and complex variety, with its intense scent of roses, is considered a sought-after speciality. Rosenmuskateller is demanding to cultivate and produces only low yields. The grapes are fermented on the skins as a red wine.
