Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne, originating from the charming town of Aÿ in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. As early as 1584, Pierre Gosset produced red and white still wines in the Reims region, and by the 18th century, the family began crafting fine Champagnes. Gosset remained in family ownership for 17 generations until 1993, when it was sold to the Cointreau family from Charente, who also own Frappin Cognac.
Compared to the large Champagne houses, Gosset is a relatively small, artisan producer. Only the musts from the first pressing of the grapes, rich in aroma and of the highest purity, are used. Gosset Champagnes continue to be bottled in the iconic, antique-shaped bottles that emphasize the house's historic heritage.
The estate's approximately 140 hectares of vineyards are cultivated by over 200 growers and are consistently ranked among the top 95% on the official Champagne quality scale, the "Échelle des Crus."
Gosset’s extraordinary winemaking tradition, combined with the expertise passed down through generations and the commitment of the house—now led by long-time head winemaker Odilon de Varine—results in an unmistakable style in every bottle of Gosset.
