Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner

Details

Grüner Veltliner is the most important autochthonous grape variety in Austria and is particularly common in Lower Austria and Vienna. Recently, the variety has also been increasingly found in other countries. For example, in the directly bordering regions of the Czech Republic, Slovakia or Hungary. In Germany or the Eisack Valley in South Tyrol, too, the Veltliner can produce beautiful results. Remarkable is the range of wine styles that are possible with this grape variety: light, uncomplicated and " drinkable" at the beginning of the taste spectrum, it can also provide a powerful, multi-layered wine with great storage potential, which - like Riesling - perfectly brings the terroir into the bottle. Characteristic of each of these expressions is a fruity-spicy note, the much-sung "Pfefferl", a flavour reminiscent of freshly ground black pepper.
