At the end of the 19th century, English engineer Sir Edmund James Palmer Norton recognized the potential of the Mendoza Valley, particularly the appellation of Luján de Cuyo. With great pioneering spirit, he founded Bodega Norton, which today ranks among Argentina’s oldest wineries. Sir Norton was proven right: Luján de Cuyo became the country’s first classified appellation. The outstanding soils and special climate offer ideal conditions for producing premium wines.
In 1989, an Austrian element was added: Gernot Langes-Swarovski visited the estate, was impressed by the exceptional conditions, and became the first foreign investor in Argentine viticulture.
Today, the winery is led by Michael Halstrick. “We see ourselves as instruments of nature. All our wines express the sum of our climate, our soils, and our deep passion,” explains Halstrick.
