The winery is relatively small, possessing only 27 ha, but nevertheless it is a fine estate, and easy to manage. The Grassls like everything to be straight and clear-cut: main focus red wine, a straightforward range, a purist image, a functional cellar, unfussy labels, no gimmicky wines. The cellar is spotless, operations precise, wines are ralely filtered and grapes are handled with the utmost care, in order to sustain their quality right through the bottle. Quality what counts, producing in the best sense of the word 'grounded' wines, but at an international level of quality.
The vineyards are cultivated according to organic guidelines. The winery Philipp Grassl belongs to the Association of Traditional Austrian Wineries and owns vineyards in two of their famous "Erste Lagen".
