Cantina Meran

Cantina Meran

Details

On 1 July 2010, the two wine cooperatives of the Burggrafenamt district, Meraner and Burggräfler Kellerei, merged to form Kellerei Meran Burggräfler, now the largest winery in western South Tyrol. Around 350 small and micro producers cultivate the best vineyards in Merano and the surrounding communities. In the western part of South Tyrol, the wine-growing area extends to the Vinschgau Valley, which is characterised by its extreme climatic conditions and is the smallest closed DOC wine-growing area in South Tyrol. The range of varieties produced by the Merano Burggräfler Winery is as diverse as the landscape of the basin around the town of Merano, which resembles an amphitheatre. Imposing mountain peaks up to 3,000 metres high stand protectively in the background of this unique landscape, whose climate is influenced by the Mediterranean from the south. The entire range of South Tyrolean grape varieties thrives in optimal conditions on the various vineyards between 350 and 900 metres above sea level and in different orientations.
