Weingut Donabaum "Strawanzer"

Details

At STRAWANZER, formerly known as Weingut Donabaum "In der Spitz," winemaking has been documented since 1602. Year after year, precious grapes mature on approximately six hectares of vineyards, with 80% of them located in terraced vineyards. These grapes form the foundation for the varietal wines, produced from old vines and aged for extended periods. The stylistic character of each grape variety is shaped, in part, by the diverse soils found at the winery. The Grüner Veltliner from the Willendorfer Loess terraces, for example, unfolds with outstanding aromatic intensity. Elegant and mineral-driven Rieslings also find the perfect conditions there. Even the Sauvignon Blanc, which has been recently experimented with, showcases its versatility through complex aromas, delicate blackcurrant and gooseberry notes, and a full-bodied taste. To meet the demand for red wines, a plot with old Zweigelt vines was leased in a sun-soaked valley indentation and painstakingly revitalized. Since then, red wine enthusiasts have been able to enjoy top-quality rosés, sparkling wines, and cuvées made from Zweigelt, Merlot, Roesler, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
